Why Silence Feels Uncomfortable (And What It Reveals About You)
Most people say they want peace.
Yet the moment things go quiet, they reach for their phone.
Silence is not empty.
Silence is a mirror.
When there is no noise, no notifications, no distractions, the mind starts speaking. Thoughts surface. Old memories rise. Unresolved emotions knock gently, then loudly. This is why silence feels uncomfortable to many people. It removes the escape routes.
Psychology tells us that the brain is wired to avoid discomfort. Spiritual wisdom says discomfort is a doorway. When we sit in silence, we meet parts of ourselves we have been postponing for years.
That restlessness you feel in silence is not boredom.
It is awareness waking up.
People who avoid silence often confuse constant stimulation with happiness. But stimulation only numbs. Silence reveals. It shows you what needs healing, what needs attention, and what needs to be released.
This is why monks meditate.
This is why therapy often begins with listening.
This is why real clarity usually comes when everything goes quiet.
Silence does not demand anything from you.
It simply asks you to be honest.
If you can sit with silence without running away, you start building emotional resilience. You learn to observe thoughts instead of obeying them. You stop reacting and start responding.
In a loud world, silence becomes a superpower.
And the more comfortable you become with silence, the less afraid you are of yourself.

My escape route is sleeping. And when I used to wake up,, sadness fades away. But this is injurious to mental health only.
Ignoring your emotions could lead us to anxiety. We need to acknowledge how we feel, when someone ignores , disrespects, pr say hurtful things, the heart aches. We should shed some tears the moment we feel like it.
I had stopped acknowledging my own emotions, cause I used to think that it takes so much time. And I don’t have time for this.
What?
I don’t have time for myself?
How stupid I am.
The moment, I read this piece, I figured that the reason for the cause is ignorance about my own emotions. Spirituality gives clarity. Nice
